So there are a bunch of returning keywords for the set as expected and a bunch of new ones, one for both sides plus a new term let's run down the list of the returning candidates for this particular set.
- Infect
- Proliferate
- Metalcraft
Wait a minute where's imprint, well it appears imprint was only on a few cards for this block, hopefully it makes it's glorious return in the third and final set of the block, whatever that may be of course. But for now we have three new abilites to enjoy which are as follows.
- Battle Cry
- Living Weapon
- "Poisoned" [This is a term used for phyrexian cards and will be seen in this set to provide bonuses for the card as long as the defending player has a poison counter present]
Battle Cry or as i now like to call, it bad ass cry has turned the new mechanics on it's ear with 3 cards receiving it as of this article, the 3 cards being Hero of Bladehold, Accorder Paladin and Signal Pest which grants a bonus when attacking a mere +1/+0 bonus at that, now is this ability broken no it's actually quite balanced as this ability literally shows a attacking deck can finish in quicker time with this block then any other prior block. Battle cry is a generic field effect similar to honor of the pure but without the enchantment feel of the thing, since Honor of the Pure was a good card, it's showing it's a decent ability in this set, i'd love to see it on at least 5 more cards preferrably knights.
Living weapon is the phyrexian mechanic of this set and it's proven to be a decent ability for them already, as when a equipment comes into play with this ability such as Flayer Husk, it generates a token that then gets the equipment that made the token attached to it, in this case giving it a +1/+1 bonus in this case, it could be a bit different with other phyrexian cards that equip themselves onto tokens in this set, we will see and all that, this seems like a balanced ability though showing why phyrexia is superior then the mirran side of the war, i'd like to see at least 4 more cards with this ability or more provided it is given.
The final new ability or term is "Poison" whenever a player is poisoned a creature with a static ability enters the field, in this case Septic Rats means it gets a bonus of +1/+1 and is a 3/3 since it's static ability says and i quote "Whenever septic rats attacks, if the defending player is poisoned, it gets +1/+1 until end of turn." so we could see this ability on quite a few cards in future spoiler updates of this particular set, no one can say, all i can say though is when this is released i'll be sure to grab a box of this set, that's all for this round, see you next article.
